Hearing Loss - coping in a Hearing World
This website is for a lay audience and aims to pass on practical advice based on my own experiences of hearing loss while having to work and interact with others all over the world who hear normally. Hence the Hearing World reference in the website name.
I started the website years ago when I first realised that my hearing was going down and that I needed to find ways of managing when almost everyone else seemed to hear normally with little or no understanding of hearing loss. The pages that I wrote then are the earliest ones which consider ways of coping with relatively mild hearing loss. Over the years, my hearing has seriously deteriorated. So the more recent pages suggest ways of coping with more significant hearing loss.
Although the website is not for the profoundly deaf, I do in places use the term 'deaf' for 'hearing loss', for example in some menus to save space.
Note that I am not qualified to give medical advice and I will not do so. Neither will I advise on commercially available equipment.
Below are a few popular examples from the website. See the menu for more.
